The Voter Registration Toolkit
The League of Women Voters (LWV) is a non-partisan political organization made up of women and men of all ages and backgrounds, which encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
The League accomplishes its mission by registering voters, holding debates and public forums, advocating for positions to influence public policy, and providing resources to help inform voters. The League is dedicated to ensuring that all eligible voters – particularly those from traditionally underrepresented or underserved communities, including first-time voters, non-college youth, new citizens, minorities, the elderly, and low-income Americans – have the opportunity and the information to exercise their right to vote.
The leaders you elect make the decisions that affect you – your job, health care, energy costs, security, and more. The League helps you to get registered, get to know the candidates and issues, and get out and vote.
Purpose Of This Voter Toolkit
As America gears up for an election year, voter registration becomes essential to increase voter turnout and participation in our democracy. The LWV Philly and PA have partnered to build an outreach program that will support local leagues around the state, schools, community colleges, and new voters, in educating them on how to register to vote or how to register others. To increase our numbers and reach, the LWV team plans to film two exciting instructional videos that will do just this, give both energy for voting but also support others in helping register new voters. To complement the videos, the team will also develop a downloadable presentation to promote voter registration drives with the goal of registering others to vote in a helpful, enjoyable, and non-partisan method for the state of Pennsylvania.
Who Can Use It?
The LWV hopes to target new voters and those wanting to register new voters in the state of Pennsylvania and, in doing so, increase both voter registration and voter turnout. But we want everyone to use it, so spread the word. This is your call to action! Teachers, student government leaders and any community member running an event feel free to use, share and present the materials developed below. Let’s all work together to GET OUT THE VOTE!
Partners
This project is in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania and the League of Women Voters of Philadelphia.
Goals Of This Project
The LWV in both Philly and the state will target school districts, community colleges, and other partner organizations to promote and distribute the Vote PA videos and supportive presentations. But we need your help too! Let us know how you are using these tools, what tools you use, and what other tools you may need to GOTV!
The LWV will offer training online and at partner sites to share and distribute the online tools as well as launch a social media campaign to increase use and registration.
We Need Your Help!
The success of the project rests on the distribution of the new videos and supporting presentation materials to both new voters and voter registration programs statewide. So, use these tools, embed the videos on your local sites, and use them on social media or e-blasts. The LWV PA is strong when we all work together and share our best practices. Let’s get out there and GOTV!
